2012 Stags Field Hockey 15
paign. The Stags brought in a number of student-athletes who
will be fighting for starting positions and whom will bring depth
off the bench, particularly on the front half. Freshman Casey
Heely will see some time at the net while Kristian Stefanides,
who comes from a championship prep team out of
Pennsylvania will be a threat on offense. After losing three
starters and the team’s top scorer to graduation, the freshmen
have an opportunity to earn a few starting positions for the
Stags.
Fairfield's nonconference schedule will prepare them for
an extremely difficult America East conference which includes
No. 14 Boston University, No. 18 University of New Hampshire,
No. 19 Albany, and No. 22 Maine. To prepare themselves for
one of the most difficult conference schedules in the nation,
the Stags will open their season against Hofstra University fol-
lowed by meetings with No. 8 Michigan, Yale, and Brown
University.
As the Fairfield University field hockey program continually
improves season to season, 2012 looks to be no different.
With the incoming freshman and the talent returning, the Stags
have the skill and momentum for one of the best seasons in
program history.
