Facilities
Fairfield University's commitment to athletics is best illustrated by the completion of the
Thomas J. Walsh, Jr. Athletic Center, a 51,000 square-foot structure that caters to the aca-
demic and athletic needs of its student-athletes. Perhaps the building's most significant
feature is a high-tech academic study center that is reserved for student-athlete use. The
center includes individual and group study areas, computer terminals, hardwire and wireless
internet access, a portal to educational systems, and a complete reference library. The build-
ing also serves the athlete as well, offering a practice gymnasium for men's and women's
basketball as well as volleyball. Plus, all administrative offices and the majority of coaches'
offices are located in the Athletic Center, which centralizes the Athletics Department. The
first floor contains state-of-the-art locker rooms for all athletic teams, a 4,700 square-foot
weight training center, and coaches' locker rooms.
From Interstate 95 North: Take Exit 22 (Round Hill Road) which is also an exit for a rest area.
Stay right on the exit and proceed to stop sign. Go straight through the stop sign to the end
of road. Make left onto North Benson Road. Continue on North Benson Road to Fairfield
University Main Entrance and turn left. Once on campus, turn right at the second stop sign
onto Leeber Road. Proceed through one stop sign and the Walsh Athletic Center is on the
right.
From Interstate 95 South: Take Exit 22 (North Benson Road). Turn right onto North Benson
Road. Follow to Fairfield University main entrance and turn left. Once on campus, turn right
at the second stop sign onto Leeber Road. Proceed through one stop sign and the Walsh
Athletic Center is on the right.
From the Merritt Parkway: Take Exit 44. Follow Rt. 58 South (Black Rock Turnpike). Proceed
two miles to Stillson Road (Rt. 135), where you will see the Angus Steak House on the corner.
Turn right onto Stillson and bear left onto North Benson Road at second traffic light. The
University's main entrance is one mile on the right. Once on campus, turn right at the second
stop sign onto Leeber Road. Proceed through one stop sign and the Walsh Athletic Center is
on the right.
