J
acquie Fernandes begins her third season as a member of the Fairfield
University women’s basketball program, and her second as an assistant
coach. She will work with the Stags backcourt, play an active role in recruit-
ing, overseeing and coordinating the Stags video exchange program as well as
participating in preparation of oppo-
nent scouts and practice and game
plan creation.
In her first season at Fairfield,
Fernandes served as the program’s
Director of Basketball Operations. In
that capacity, she will be responsible for
team travel and the day-to-day opera-
tions of the women’s basketball office.
Fernandes came to Fairfield after a
four-year career with the University of
Connecticut women’s basketball team,
where she was a member of two NCAA
National Championship teams and part
of the Huskies record-setting 78-game
win streak. Over the course of her
career, Fernandes appeared in 115
games for the Huskies, making one
start during her senior season.
Following the completion of her playing days, Fernandes interned in the
women’s basketball office at UConn. In that role she assisted the coaching staff
in coordinating and preparing for the July 2010 recruiting period, as well as serv-
ing as a liaison with other athletic departments around the nation.
Fernandes, who earned a B.S. in Kinesiology in May, worked in the UConn
Video Department during her senior year. In that capacity she helped set-up film
session for the Huskies women’s basketball team by breaking down game and
practice film.
