airfield University basketball continues to offer fans in the local
area, around the nation, and around the world, numerous oppor-
tunities to track the Stags. Fans can gain access to the Stags via

August 2010. The website is hosted by ICS, a leading provider of ath-
letic website design and hosting, which offers innovative web solutions
for colleges and universities throughout the country. The Fairfield
University website provides fans with multimedia experiences such as
audio streaming, live stats, and feature stories.
Social Media
Fans can follow the Stags across multiple platforms including social

Stag Tracks
Over the summer, the Fairfield University Department of Athletics
launched a new blog – Stag Tracks. The blog, written by coaches,
administrators, and student-athletes, is intended to give fans an inti-
mate look at the life of the Stags.Throughout the year fans will be able
to find posts from student-athletes talking about travel, classes, com-
munity service, and all that it takes to be a Division I athlete. Stag

Television
Fairfield basketball has enjoyed a tradition of local, regional and
national coverage by the electronic media. Since 1986, the Stags have
made 10 appearances on ESPN, more than 30 on the Madison
Square Garden (MSG) Network, and have appeared on SportsChannel
more than 15 times, as well as on a variety of other local television
networks.
Fairfield will make two television appearances during the course of
the 2012-13 season. The Stags game at Iona College on January 18
will air on ESPN3 while Fairfield’s home game against Canisius
College will appear on ESPN3 on February 14 as a part of a double-
header with the men’s team.
The MAAC Championship semifinals will air live on ESPN3 while the
MAAC Championship final will air nationally in over 73 million homes
on ESPNU.
Streaming Video
Fairfield will once again offer video webstreaming of its home con-
tests. All of the Stags’ 12 home games this season will be available
online through a partnership with Stretch Internet. Fans that access
the video feed will get the best of both worlds, as they listen to the call
of the Stags radio broadcast team and watch the action live. Packages
are available for fans to watch all home sporting events that are web-
cast, as well as packages for watching only home basketball games,
or fans can purchase on a game-by-game basis.
Radio
Fairfield women’s basketball will once again have all of its regular and
postseason games broadcast on the airwaves on WVOF 88.5 FM. John
Cummings will provide the play-by-play and
will be joined by primary color analyst Gail
Strumpf-Cheney. For select home contests,
Maria Conlon will also provide color com-
mentary. Fans from around the world can
hear the call of each of the Stags games
because of the basketball networks inter-
net broadcasting capability. By visiting

the broadcast.

OnAir Talent
John Cummings enters his 19th season as the play-by-play announc-
er for the women’s basketball team and as the men’s basketball
color analyst. Cummings came to Fairfield from Marist College, where
he announced Red Foxes football for four years. He was a decorated
officer with the New York City Police Department, where he served
the city for eight years. He currently teaches social studies at Saint
Raymond High School for Boys in the Bronx. He resides in New City,
N.Y. with his wife Denise and two sons Nicholas and Matthew.
Gail Strumpf-Cheney begins her first season as a color analyst.
Strumpf-Cheney, a 2001 graduate of Fairfield University is one of the
most decorated women’s basketball players in Stags history. A three-
time First Team All-MAAC selection, Strumpf-Cheney is Fairfield’s all-
time leading scorer with 1,873 points. She also hauled in 1,106
rebounds in her four-years, ranking second on that list. In 2010,
Strumpf-Cheney was inducted into the Fairfield University Alumni
Association Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2012, she was inducted into
the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and elected into
the MAAC Basketball Hall of Fame Honor Roll. Strumpf-Cheney cur-
rently coaches girls basketball at Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden,
Conn.
Maria Conlon is in her sixth season as a color analyst for the Fairfield
University women’s basketball team. Conlon was an assistant coach
for Joe Frager at Southern Connecticut State University during the
2006-07
National Championship run, and played for him at Seymour
High School. A standout at the University of Connecticut, Conlon
helped the Huskies to three national titles during her career. She was
one of two players to see action in all 70 of the Huskies’ 70-game
winning streak.
