2012 Stags Soccer 13
SeasonOutlook
Lauren Reilly has quietly developed into the key cog of the Fairfield offensive attack. Having now started 38
consecutive games, the senior is poised for a breakout season, after being named to the All-MAAC Second
Team last fall. She is joined in the midfield by a talented and veteran group, including junior Nikki Stanton
and sophomore Michelle Kowalski. Erin Petterson and Torey
Camporini both have a year of collegiate soccer under their belts
now, and will provide strong competition in the midfield, while new-
comer Lindsey O’Neil is also expected to bring depth to the roster,
entering training camp.
As usual with an O’Brien
coached squad, the Stags
are expected to be strong
defensively. Six players
that started games last
season return to play in
the back, led by captain
Alli Walsh. Joining her is

and classmate
Megan O’Brien. Pichl, who
played in all 19 games,
started 10 times, while
O’Brien earned nine
starts. Rookie Karolyn
Collins enters training
camp as a possible starter at one of the outside back positions,
but will face serious competition for that role with returnees Sarah
Frassetto, Jessica Broadbent and Stephanie Sutherby as well as
fellow newcomer Colleen Reynolds. Sutherby walked on to the
team in 2010 and has evolved into an everyday back, starting
seven times as a sophomore. Also look for sophomore Michelle
Coate to compete for time in the back this fall.

After a four-year stint of Kelly Boudreau
in goal, the Stags will have a new net-
minder this fall. While the trio of
Kathleen Early, Veronica Saez and
Sophia DeVita have yet to play a colle-
giate minute, they are immensly talent-
ed in their own rights and competition to
step into the starting spot will be intense
and beneficial to all on a daily basis.
