Meet theStags
General: Shannon Fay is a prototypical 'target' forward
who that has appeared in 38 games during her first
two seasons with the Stags, with 20 starts. One of the Stags top offensive
threats, she enters her junior season with 14 career points on five goals and
four assists. Fay and head coach Jim O'Brien have a tie outside of soccer, as
both graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in Long Island.
Off The Field: Fay is a Communication major. She earned a spot in the
Department of Athletics 3.0 Club in her first semester at Fairfield.
2011: Fay appeared in 18 games for the Stags as a sophomore, with starts
coming in 15 of those contests. She finished the year with four points. Fay
scored her lone goal of the game, the only score of the game, in the Stags win
over Holy Cross for her first career game-winner. She had assists in the win at
Hofstra and Saint Peter's as well.
2010: Fay finished her rookie season as the Stags leading scorer with 10
points. She appeared in all 20 games the team played and earned a starting
spot on five occasions. Fay forced overtime versus Georgetown, a squad which
advanced to the Elite Eight, with her first collegiate tally in the 40th minute of
play. The first multi-stat game of Fay's collegiate career came at Stony Brook
on September 16 as she recorded a pair of assists. She touched net in back-
to-back conference games in October, adding an insurance goal against Rider
and getting the Stags within one tally in the final portion of the home game with
Canisius. Two games later Fay tallied the Stags lone goal in a league game at
Siena, the first time in her career she scored in a game she started.
High School: Fay earned four varsity letters at St. John the Baptist and served
as team captain her final two seasons. She finished her senior campaign with
64 points as she led the Cougars to the New York State Catholic High School
Championship. Fay touched net 26 times that season as she earned All-Long
Island Second Team honors from Newsday and team MVP accolades. She
earned All-League accolades in each of her four years at St. John's. In 2010,
Fay was named to the ODP Select Player List. Academically, Fay earned induc-
tion to both the National English and National Art Honor societies.
Personal: Shannon Margaret Fay is the daughter of Mary and Thomas Fay. Has
one brother, Brian, who plays soccer at Centre College in Kentucky.

General: Elise Hemmer is in her senior season as a
member of the Stags soccer program and part of the
Stags defensive unit. She has appeared in 30 games over the course of her
career at Fairfield and has a goal, two assists and a start to her credit.
Off The Field: Hemmer is a Business major at Fairfield. She has earned a spot
in the Department of Athletics 3.0 Club in five of her six semesters on campus,
while making the Dean's List for the first time in the Spring 2012 semester. As
a sophomore Hemmer resided in the University's Service for Justice Living and
Learning Community.
2011:
MAAC All-Academic Team!
Hemmer played in nine games, all as a
reserve, during her junior season. She scored her first collegiate goal in the
Stags win over Rider at home on Senior Day.
2010:
MAAC All-Academic Team!
Hemmer appeared in 14 games during the
season, including her first collegiate start in the Stags September 19 home
game with Army. Three days prior Hemmer fed Shannon Fay, for the game win-
ner, for her first collegiate assist in the Stags win at Stony Brook. She would
add a second assist in the league win over Saint Peter's, feeding Nicole
Cavallaro for the final tally of the October 10 victory.
2009: Hemmer appeared in seven games, all as a reserve, during her rookie
campaign, making her debut in the win over Stony Brook. She played in three
MAAC games (Siena, Saint Peter's, Canisius) during the regular season, as well
as the MAAC Championship quarterfinal versus Niagara.
High School: Hemmer earned four varsity letters at Manasquan High School
where she helped contribute to 34 victories. She finished her career with 118
points as she touched net 47 times. A team captain her junior and senior sea-
son, Hemmer led the Warriors to 11 wins in each of those seasons and was
named to the Asbury Park Press All-Shore Second Team. As a senior, Hemmer
struck for 16 goals, and seven assists, as she earned Star Ledger All-
Monmouth County Second Team and All-State Group II accolades and was
named the team's Most Outstanding Player.
Personal: Elise Marie Hemmer is the daughter of Judith and George Hemmer
and is the youngest of five children. Her father and brother, George III, both
played rugby at Fairfield, while her other brother, Peter, played at Scranton. A
sister, Heather, was a three-sport athlete at Drew University while sister Amber
lettered in soccer and softball at Allentown College (now DeSales University).
